The Game Awards has been a pretty great show for Star Wars fans so far. Right out of the gates, a new single-player RPG Star Wars game was announced called Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, directed by none other than Mass Effect"s Casey Hudson.
However, The Game Awards wasn"t done there. Announced towards the back end of the show, Star Wars got a double helping of amazement, as a new pod racing game called Star Wars: Galactic Racer was announced. Not only that, but it"s being made buy Fuse Studios, a new developer made up of ex-Criterion devs who were responsible for Burnout Paradise and Need For Speed.
We"re Getting A New Pod Racing Game From Ex-Need For Speed Developers
Unfortunately, we didn"t get to see any actual gameplay of the title, as Fuse Games chose to give us a fancy CGI trailer. It does look like destruction will be a big part of the experience, as we get to see some pod racers blow up, and it makes sense given the devs have worked on Burnout Paradise.
We did also get a release date for the title, as it was confirmed that the title will be launching in 2026. No specific release date though, unfortunately, though we"ll likely hear something soon.
